Alex's Journey to Employment: Overcoming Challenges and Embracing New Opportunities

Alex is an outgoing individual with a contagious smile. He has a diagnosis of Congenital Deaf-Blindness and communicates with others using tactile sign language and tactile cards. In February 2023, he was referred to Easterseals Vocational Services to help him achieve his goal of obtaining employment.

With the unwavering support of Easterseals Vocational Services, Alex participated in Pre-Employment Skills Training (PRE-ETS), Workplace Readiness Training, and Job Coaching Programs. He made significant progress during his on-the-job training, learning essential skills for his role as a Shredder Operator. As a recent high school graduate, Alex is eager to embrace adulthood and enter the workforce.

In May 2024, he was referred to Supported Employment with the goal of securing competitive employment. Alex successfully obtained a position as a Shredder Operator at Camden Bookkeeping & Payroll LLC in June 2024. The staff at Camden Bookkeeping & Payroll LLC reported that Alex is doing an excellent job and that they enjoy having him on their team.
